FUN FACTS

A favorite dessert on Volendam is the famous Holland America Line Bread and Butter Pudding.

Trays of mints, dried fruits, and candied ginger can be found outside the dining room on Volendam. 

Holland America Line’s “No Tipping Required” policy means that, while gratuities are appreciated by crewmembers, they are not solicited aboard Volendam.

Passengers on Volendam are presented with a complimentary cotton canvas carryall bag imprinted with the Holland America Line logo.

Shoeshine bags are provided in every Volendam stateroom for complimentary shoeshine service.

The all-natural products in every Volendam bathroom have been carefully evaluated and found to be healthy as well as good for the environment. The organic/vegetable-based bath products use no animal testing.

If requested in advance, Volendam guests with babies may obtain a complimentary supply of baby food, diapers, and an in-stateroom refrigerator.

An art and history tour is scheduled on every Volendam cruise to offer information about the vessel’s art and antiques, which are worth approximately two million dollars. 

A highlight of a Holland America Cruise on the Volendam is the crew show, produced by either the Indonesian or Filipino crewmembers and spotlighting songs and dances from their homelands.

The Volendam has an on board infirmary staffed by a licensed physician and three registered nurses. 

The Volendam infirmary is equipped with emergency medical facilities and a well-stocked pharmacy.

No youth activities are scheduled when Volendam is in port. While sailing there is at least one morning activity, one in the afternoon, and one in the evening. 

Youngsters participating in Volendam’s Club HAL program receive a daily list of scheduled youth activities and a Club HAL t-shirt.

On Volendam’s wrap-around promenade deck passengers can walk, jog, or stretch out in the shade on a lounge chair.
