Countdown to QM2
SPECIAL! -- March 21 2003 -- "FLOAT OUT"

Queen Mary 2 (QM2), the worlds longest, widest, tallest and at $800M the most expensive passenger ship ever is seen here dwarfing a London double-decker bus prior to entering the water for the first time. Featuring the grandest suites and staterooms, restaurants, lounges, spa, and first planetarium at sea, QM2 is the new flagship of Cunard Line and will enter service in January 2004.

Saint Nazaire, France
At 6 am on March 21, 2003, the luxury liner Queen Mary 2 (QM2) entered open water for the first time as she was floated out from her building dock to a finishing basin at the Alstom Chantiers shipyard here. This milestone signifies the final stages of construction for Cunard Lines flagship, which is scheduled to enter service in January 2004 as the first luxury liner to be built in over 30 years.
