Saint Nazaire, France At 6 am on March 21, 2003, the luxury liner Queen Mary 2 (QM2) entered open water for the first time as she was floated out from her building dock to a finishing basin at the Alstom Chantiers shipyard here. This milestone signifies the final stages of construction for Cunard Lines flagship, which is scheduled to enter service in January 2004 as the first luxury liner to be built in over 30 years.
