In general, the lower the score the lower the level of sanitation; however, a low score does not necessarily imply an imminent risk of an outbreak of gastrointestinal disease. CDC reserves the right to recommend that a ship not sail when circumstances so dictate (such as, but not restricted to, contamination of the potable water supply or inadequate treatment of the potable water supply).
