Cruise Diva Goes Ashore in ALASKA Sights to see & things to do
Misty Fjords National Monument ~ Alaska
Stretching north from the Canadian border, the 2.3 million acre Misty Fjords National Monument is a majestic area of forest-covered rugged mountains punctuated by cascading waterfalls. Named for its climatic conditions, precipitation tends to soften the distant views which appear as though under a constant mist. Only small ships venture far into the waterways of Misty Fjords; larger ships pass the southern tip and head northwest to dock at Ketchikan.
Diversions Find a spot at the ship’s rail to view the passing scenery and don’t forget your camera and binoculars. Even though they include no glaciers, for a better look at the beauty of Misty Fjords, flyover sightseeing tours are extremely popular. The majestic beauty of the sparkling fjords, waterfalls, and rugged tree covered mountains are capped by landing on a serene lake in the wilderness.
Cool Cruising-- Spring! It's in the air and cruisers' fancies turn north. North to Alaska, with thoughts of majestic scenery, frontiers to explore, and what to pack.
