A Proposal Fit For A Princess

From time to time we've all no doubt heard of marriage proposals being delivered in unusual ways. Some hopeful grooms-to-be get may be tongue-tied when it comes to popping the question, but they can get creative. Using billboards and sky-writing to do the deed are so last century, though. Enter Jorge Cruz a truly creative cruise passenger who demonstrates that anything is possible on a Princess ship, including a "Proposal Under the Stars."

Not only does Princess Cruises screen first-run movies, the Super Bowl, the Academy Awards® and Wizard of Oz sing-a-longs on its popular poolside "Movies Under the Stars" outdoor LED screens, it even airs marriage proposals, like that of passengers Jorge Cruz and Mariell Tamor, pictured below on Sea Princess last week.

Love Boat Proposal Aboard PrincessCruz and his lovely fiancé Tamor, both from Mexico City, met in Skywalkers disco last year while cruising the Baltic on Golden Princess.  The couple fell in love and Cruz planned to propose to Tamor over dinner for two on Sea Princess, sailing in the Mediterranean.

After Cruz boarded the ship and marveled at the newly installed "Movies Under the Stars" screen, he had a better idea - a surprise video proposal!  In his words, "The screen was as big as my heart and love for her."

At 11:45 p.m. on July 27, while en route from Cadiz to Barcelona, the couple was enjoying a balmy night on deck when his pre-taped proposal started rolling.  On the 300-square-foot screen Cruz popped the question, opening the ring box for all to see. On deck, as the surprised Tamor watched, he presented her with the real thing - a gorgeous diamond engagement ring (shown above behind the happy couple on the big screen).

And, she said YES! How could she refuse after such a romantic declaration on the "Love Boat" no less?  The couple then celebrated with a glass of bubbly and fellow passengers congratulated them with applause.

Perhaps Cruz and Tamor will also tie the knot at sea in a Princess wedding chapel!
