New Carnival Liberty to Feature Multi-Million-Dollar Art Collection

MIAMI (April 26, 2005) – For the new 110,000-ton Carnival Liberty, set to launch Carnival’s first-ever Mediterranean cruise program July 20, 2005, the line has commissioned a group of talented artists to enhance the vessel’s striking interiors, which celebrate great artisans and their works.

Israeli artist Calman Shemi took the Carnival Liberty’s design theme to heart and created a series of large, colorful murals that feature depictions of iron workers, glass blowers, jewelry makers, and sculptors practicing their crafts. The massive aluminum panels, which measure an impressive six feet high by nine feet wide, are positioned within the ship’s center stairways. Shemi also created 45 different motifs that were reproduced to adorn each of the Carnival Liberty’s 1,479 staterooms.

In her first commission from Carnival, California painter Marian Westall also pays homage to the artisan theme with a series of large canvases for the aft stairways. The brightly colored paintings depict pottery and ornate grillwork set against a variety of dramatic settings, including the desert, sunsets, and a lake.

Virginia Ferrara’s large, tropical-themed pieces, which adorn Carnival Liberty’s stair landings, are inspired by the surroundings of her adopted South Florida home. Measuring up to six feet high by 15 feet wide, the huge, pastel-hued pieces offer a laid-back look at the Sunshine State, with images of palm trees, hammocks and swimming pool scenes that evoke a feeling of total relaxation.

Adjacent to the Carnival Liberty’s swimming pools are four bronze sculptures of Susanna Holt, who has been commissioned to create artwork for six Carnival ships. For Carnival Liberty, Holt created authentic depictions of an anhinga bird drying its wings, sea lions in repose, and a stag and a doe in standing positions.

Rounding out the Carnival Liberty’s multi-million-dollar collection are colorful glass pieces of renowned Italian glass artist Luciano Vistosi, which are illuminated from behind and positioned along Carnival Liberty’s ship-long promenade, and Sara Righi’s sculpture of “Aurora,” a bronze sculpture found along the promenade bar adjacent to the Czar’s Palace Casino.

Carnival Liberty is scheduled to debut July 20, with a series of 12-day Mediterranean voyages that will run through Oct. 12, 2005. Featured ports include Naples, Italy; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Venice, Italy; Messina, Sicily; Barcelona, Spain; Cannes, France; and Livorno, Italy. Carnival Liberty will also operate a 16-day transatlantic voyage departing Rome (Civitavecchia) Oct. 24, and arriving at Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Nov. 9, 2005, calling at Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca and Malaga, Spain; Funchal (Madeira), Portugal; and St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles.

Carnival Liberty will then launch the cruise industry’s only year-round six- and eight-day Bahamas/Caribbean schedule from Fort Lauderdale beginning Nov. 12, 2005. For additional information and reservations, contact any travel agent, call 1-800-CARNIVAL or visit www.carnival.com

Crystal Cruises' Earlier Than Ever Online Service for Shore Tours Offers Color, Convenience... and Peace of Mind

LOS ANGELES -- In an industry first, travelers can savor and pre-reserve Crystal Adventures shore excursions on Crystal Cruises' website almost a year in advance of the sailing date. The new service not only whets one's appetite for the wealth of stimulating cultural, adventurous, and historic experiences ashore, but offers the convenience and peace of mind of pre-reserving shore excursions far in advance of the cruise departure. This is the earliest any cruise line has made its excursions available to travelers or their travel agents with full descriptions and pricing. Anyone can peruse the tour descriptions, while guests, or their travel agents, with just a booking number can pre-reserve.

Effective April 23, the luxury line will post its expansive collection of excursions for its 2006 World Cruise that begins on January 18 and concludes on May 5, 2006. Travelers can choose from 250 Crystal Adventures, including 23 compelling overland excursions with a choice of eleven safaris in South Africa, Namibia, Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia and Botswana. Crystal has also posted all of its Crystal Adventures for Alaska, Baltic, Eastern and Western Mediterranean cruises through October. By May 1, fall New England/Canada Crystal Adventures will be available for perusal and pre-reservations. Excursions for the remaining 2005 cruises, including its holiday cruises, will be posted by mid-May, all of which are months earlier than ever before.

"Travelers value the opportunity to get a sense of the experiences one can enjoy in a destination. Being able to plan those experiences far in advance is a convenient tool for travelers and their travel agents," says Thomas Mazloum, senior vice president, hotel operations. "Whether one is considering a Crystal cruise or has already booked, these vivid descriptions of actual tours make them come alive." Adds John Stoll, Crystal Cruises' director, land programs, "We are offering as many as two dozen Crystal Adventures in a single port, which provides numerous choices for travelers who have visited a destination previously or who are traveling with family members who have varied interests. Our aim is to provide people with multiple colors and flavors of a destination as seamlessly as possible."

Crystal Cruises raised the bar in 2003 when it enabled guests to pre- reserve shore tours 90 days in advance of sailing. In 2004, the line enabled guests who paid in full six months in advance to pre-reserve spa appointments, specialty restaurants, Creative Learning Institute classes, as well as Crystal Adventures shore excursions. Now, with just a booking number, travelers can pre-reserve shore excursions as soon as they are posted online, as much as a year in advance of sailing.

Whether guests are considering a hugely popular overview of St. Petersburg or an intimate, limited availability hot air balloon adventure over Bordeaux, luxury travelers with a Crystal Cruises booking number can complete the Crystal Adventures shore excursion pre-reservation process by visiting Crystal Cruises' website at www.crystalcrusies.com. Guests who pre-reserve online will receive a confirmation via email.

Princess Cruises Serves Up Distinctive Alaska Experiences

SANTA CLARITA, CA, 4/20/05 - This summer, Princess Cruises is helping visitors to Alaska take home the ultimate vacation souvenir: bragging rights . With an extensive array of distinctive experiences, Princess Cruise passengers this season can enjoy an immersion into Alaskan culture that ranges from the traditional "must see's" to the completely unexpected. Whether swinging down a 175-foot zip line through the treetops of the southeast Alaska rainforest, indulging in Alaskan culinary delicacies on a private balcony while sailing through majestic Glacier Bay, or stepping directly from the ship to Princess rail cars that whisk wilderness-seekers right to the heart of Denali National Park, Princess passengers can collect these and other extraordinary, one-of-a-kind memories to recount to friends and family. Information on Princess Cruises Alaska cruises, cruisetours, wilderness lodges, and exclusive shore excursions can be found at www.princess.com, or by calling 1-800-PRINCESS.

Things Old

  • Visitors who take advantage of Princess' exclusive cruisetours to the Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge will not only find themselves reposing in America's largest national park (Wrangell-St. Elias) with nine of the 16 highest U.S. peaks as a scenery backdrop, they also have the opportunity to visit historic Kennicott, the copper-mining boomtown of the early 1900's. A true Alaskan ghost town, Kennicott still stands exactly as it was the day the last resident left it...cups and plates left on tables, beds half made, shops half stocked and more. (Procrastinators rejoice! High demand for visits to the Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge has prompted Princess to add a new, unpublished 13-night cruisetour departing on August 30 (Cruisetour 34S), with a lead fare of $1,799. Details on this and other available Copper River cruisetours can be found at www.princess.com or by calling 1-800-PRINCESS.)

  • Dog sledding is one of the oldest forms of transportation in Alaska and Princess passengers can "mush" during shore excursions at various ports. From flying into Juneau's ice field for traditional dog sledding on Norris Glacier, to helping sled dogs train in the off-season with wheeled carts at a dog camp in Skagway , Princess gives visitors ample opportunity to experience this age-old method of travel.

Things New

  • An industry first, Princess announces its exclusive "Direct to the Wilderness" rail service to help visitors swap transportation time for exploration time. Princess passengers board rail cars the moment they step off the dock in Whittier, and are taken directly to either the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge or the Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge. This direct-rail service enables visitors to enjoy two nights at the park area in the time it used to take for one night.

  • A new shore excursion in Ketchikan, Rainforest Ropes & Zip Line Challenge is an athletic obstacle course in the southeast Alaska rainforest that has participants strapped into a harness as they first ascend to dizzying heights and later zoom down a 175 foot zip line. Along the way, they'll face single rope suspension bridges, traverse over swinging logs, swing across treetops by rope, repel 50 feet down an old cedar tree, and more.

Things Icy

  • In addition to being the only cruise line to visit Glacier Bay National Park, on every Gulf of Alaska cruise, Princess also offers passengers the opportunity to double their icy pleasure with its "Voyage of the Glaciers" cruise. This dramatic itinerary provides distinctly different glacial experiences, from the icy wilderness of Glacier Bay (home to some of the world's most active glaciers), to the unexpected vertical rivers of ice at College Fjord (which boasts the world's largest collection of tidewater glaciers). These passages are enhanced by lectures and narration delivered by National Park Rangers and Naturalists throughout the crossings. (See attached information sheet about glaciers.)

Things Spicy

  • Princess passengers are pampered with Signature Alaskan Cuisine throughout their cruise, and the delicately spiced smoked salmon reigns supreme each day. In addition to the Chef's Alaskan Dinner (which employs regional artisinal specialties from king crab legs, fresh halibut, and loin of venison, to native berries and wild mushrooms), passengers are treated to an On Deck Fish Barbeque, and a special presentation of a Reindeer Chili and Rockfish Chowder Cook-Off. And, because Princess Cruises offers more balcony cabins than any other cruise line, passengers can indulge in the line's signature Glacier Bay Champagne Balcony Breakfast , which includes epicurean delights such as smoked Copper River salmon, Alaskan Crab Quiche, and a full bottle of champagne for two...all served amidst the dramatic glacial scenery from the comfort of the cabin's private balcony.

  • Passengers can spice up their trip with the Klondike Summit & Liarsville Experience , a Princess shore excursion in Skagway. Gold fever is contagious in this area, and those who catch it can pan for their own fortune in the Liarsville gold fields. The remainder of the afternoon can be spent exploring the faithfully recreated "town" at the Liarsville Gold Panning Camp, where passengers can add a little spice to their photo albums by posing for a portrait with the camp's costumed dance hall girls of 1898.

Gulf of Alaska cruises and cruisetours for 2005 start at $599 for a seven-day voyage and $1,199 for 11-night cruisetours (based on select May departures). SeaDream Yacht Club Sets Speakers Program for
Transatlantic Voyages

SeaDream Yacht Club, operator of the twin, ultra-luxury, mega yacht cruisers SeaDream I and II, will offer guests on two transatlantic voyages this year a high- profile speakers’ program as a bonus to the joys of blue water sailing. The lecture programs will feature prominent speakers on Health and Wellness, World Affairs, Current News and Modern Aviation.

The transatlantic sailings are:

  • SeaDream I, Voyage #1543, Seville, Spain to San Juan, Puerto Rico, 11 days, October 15-26. Cost is from $2,199.

  • SeaDream II, Voyage #2545, Tenerife, Canary Islands to West Palm Beach, Florida, 12 days, October 22-November 3. Cost is from $2,299.

“We believe the combination of mental tranquility afforded by days at sea and the stimulation of interaction with speakers on topical subjects will provide our guests on these transatlantic sailings with the best of all possible worlds,” said Larry Pimentel, CTC, SeaDream’s President and CEO.

Less than $200 per person per day, these fares are based on double occupancy of a SeaDream Yacht Club stateroom. Modest port and handling charges $136 or $192 per person depending on the sailing are extra. There are no single supplement extra charges for solo travelers on these sailings. If booked prior to June 1 SeaDream will provide a $200 credit per stateroom for use in its renowned, onboard Asian Spa.

The Transatlantic Speakers Program includes:

  • Seville-San Juan, October 15---Keith Appleton, Senior Flight Engineer with British Airways and Dr. Steven Karch, Assistant Medical Examiner for the city of San Francisco.

  • Tenerife-West Palm Beach, October 22---Captain Mike Hollyer, Senior flight Engineer, British Airways; Dr. Karen Barefoot, Nutritional Spokesperson for the America Academy of Family Physicians and Alice Weiser, Internationally-known handwriting Analyst.

SeaDream is also offering various extensions to these transatlantic sailings to provide guests with more lengthy voyages that include a number of appealing ports-of-call. For example, on SeaDream I, Seville to Puerto Rico, that 11-day sailing can be extended to 15 days by remaining onboard in San Juan and sailing on to the British Virgin Islands then back to San Juan for disembarkation on October 30. Ports of call on this extension will be Gustavia, St. Barts and Marigot, St. Martin in the French West Indies and Jost van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands. Cost for the extension is $1,499, bringing the entire voyage to $3,698 per person.

The 12-day SeaDream II sailing from Tenerife to West Palm Beach offers another appealing possibility; a pre-transatlantic sailing. Guests may choose to board in Seville on October 15 and sail to Tenerife where the transatlantic voyage commences on October 22. Ports of call on from Seville to Tenerife are Cadiz, Spain; Funchal, Madeira; and Lanzarote, Canary Islands. Cost for this addition is $3,499 per person bringing the entire voyage to $5,688 per person.

SeaDream does not regularly offer a lecture program on its yacht-like sailings. Its guests have ample opportunity to entertain themselves with the company’s noted water sports program, unique shore excursions at ports of call and other activities designed for well-traveled, active guests. It is offering its transatlantic travelers this series of compelling speakers as a diversion from those lazy days at sea that attract travelers to these “blue-water” sailings.

SeaDream fares include all meals, wine with lunch and dinner, open bar, use of the water toys and gratuities. Air transportation and ground transportation to and from the SeaDream yacht is not included. Fares are capacity controlled and are subject to change with out notice. Those interested in these or other sailings are invited by SeaDream to contact their travel agent.

Norwegian Dawn Returns to NYC

April 18, 2005 -- Norwegian Cruise Line is pleased to report that Norwegian Dawn made extremely good time on her way to New York last night and arrived at the pier at 9:30 this morning. Embarkation for the guests will now begin at 1 p.m.

Norwegian Dawn left Charleston, South Carolina at 12:30 a.m. Saturday night after completing successful repairs to the two windows that were broken on Saturday morning. U.S. Coast Guard inspected the repairs and the vessel is now on its way to New York. Further to the tentative itinerary that was announced 4/16/05 for the voyage commencing 4/18/05 of Norwegian Dawn the company has an important update.
First, please be assured we are doing everything we can to ensure we have three strong ports of call this week to maximize guest satisfaction.

The itinerary currently published, was selected because all three ports on the itinerary (Port Canaveral, Miami and Nassau) are ports where Norwegian Dawn docks rather than anchors. That is important because it provides us with a high level of confidence that no further changes to the itinerary will be necessary. When tendering in Great Stirrup Cay, our private island, the wind does not have to pick up very much for us to have to cancel the call.

We recognize, however, that Great Stirrup Cay is an extremely popular call on this itinerary. Because of the additional distance from Great Stirrup Cay to New York, versus the distance from Nassau to New York, it is not possible to offer a port call in Great Stirrup Cay on Friday April 22nd. The ship has to leave Great Stirrup Cay first thing in the morning in order to meet our scheduled arrival time in New York, leaving no possibility for our guests to spend the day there.

However, one feasible option to provide a full day in the private island is to replace Miami with Great Stirrup Cay. Norwegian Dawn’s Captain will implement this change this coming week, in the event that the forecast on Wednesday (when we are in Port Canaveral) is such that we can be reasonably certain that the weather will not prevent us from offering a safe and comfortable tendering operation in the private island. In the event the weather is in our favor this week, the itinerary will therefore be as follows:

Day Port Arrive Depart
4/18 - Mon New York, NY    5pm
4/19 - Tue At Sea - - - -
4/20 - Wed Orlando (Port Canaveral), FL 11am 9pm
4/21 - Thu Great Stirrup Cay 9am 6pm
4/22 - Fri Nassau, Bahamas 7am Noon
4/23 - Sat At Sea - - - -
4/24 - Sun New York, NY 10am

There is no such thing as 100 percent certainty, but if we wait as long as possible to make the decision we can offer an itinerary with the best possibility of three good port calls including what to many of our guests is the highlight of the cruise – Great Stirrup Cay. Please understand, however, that in the event that the weather looks like the tendering operation in our private island may not be feasible, then we will continue to Miami and complete the itinerary currently announced including, Port Canaveral, Miami and Nassau.

We very much appreciate the patience and understanding of our guests as we plan the schedule for this week that delivers the very best possible itinerary.

Norwegian Dawn Encounters "Rogue" Wave

Miami, FL, April 16, 2005 -- Last night on her return to New York, Norwegian Dawn experienced extremely rough weather. Although the weather had become slightly calmer at daybreak, the ship was hit by a freak wave that caused two windows to break in two different cabins. There was flooding in 62 cabins and four passengers were hurt with cuts and bruises.

The safety and integrity of the ship was in no way compromised by this incident. Norwegian Dawn has diverted to Charleston, South Carolina to conduct repairs. Passengers whose cabins were flooded are being flown home from Charleston.

Once repairs are complete, the ship will continue to New York. At this time, the company estimates that the ship will arrive around noon on Monday. As things stand now, embarkation will commence at 3 p.m. on Monday. However, the embarkation time will be finalized once the ship has a definitive arrival time so passengers and travel agents should monitor the NCL Web site or call 1-800-625-5672 for updates. NCL is working to contact all travel agents with guests sailing on the April 17 cruise to inform them of the details.

In accordance with Norwegian Dawn's Winter Weather Guarantee, guests on the upcoming cruise will receive a $100 per person ($200 maximum per stateroom) onboard credit and additionally, the cruise fare will be prorated by one day, which will be refunded to the passenger's onboard account along with the onboard credit. The company will provide updates as they become available.

It has been reported that NCL is helping revise air travel arrangements for passengers currently on the ship and that the cruise line will extend a form of compensation to each passenger, as well as a voucher for use toward a future cruise.

Collaboration Continues Between Windstar Cruises & Culinary Master Joachim Splichal

Seattle, WA, April 14, 2005 – This summer, Windstar Cruises is adding 100 new recipes to its Signature Cuisine, a collection of menu items created by acclaimed celebrity chef Joachim Splichal. Prepared exclusively for Windstar’s three upscale motor sailing yachts – Wind Star, Wind Spirit and Wind Surf – Splichal will create 70 new recipes to be served in The Restaurant aboard all three ships and 30 new recipes specially for The Bistro on the Wind Surf. Splichal and his expertly trained culinary team will spend time aboard each of the ships this summer, alongside Windstar’s executive chefs, perfecting new menus and recipes. Similarly, Windstar’s culinary team will refresh their training at the Los Angeles-based Patina, Splichal’s signature restaurant.

“We look forward to working with Joachim Splichal and The Patina Group as we further develop Windstar’s degrees of difference,” states Jim McHugh, vice president of marketing and sales. “Joachim’s distinctive approach to cuisine will translate into new and exciting dishes onboard our ships, providing our guests with a culinary experience 180 degrees from ordinary.”

Since 1994, Windstar Cruises has collaborated with Joachim Splichal and The Patina Group, his progressive collection of award-winning restaurants. Both Windstar and Patina are recognized for their innovative, fresh and uncompromising style in catering to a very discerning clientele. On all three ships, The Restaurant is an inviting environment where guests dine when and with whom they wish in a single, open-seating. Deutschland to Operate Three Southern Africa/Indian Ocean Cruises in 2006

NEW YORK, April 12, 2005 – Four of South Africa’s fascinating port cities, its countryside, vineyards and unrivaled wildlife and sea life together with Namibia, Kenya, Zanzibar and other islands in the Indian Ocean are on the itineraries of three adventurous ocean voyages of 15 and 16 nights aboard Peter Deilmann Cruises’ luxury liner MS Deutschland around southern Africa in January-February 2006. Deilmann is offering 10 percent savings with cabin prices starting at $4,626 and special charter arrangements allowing guests from the U.S. to fly roundtrip to Africa from a choice of 48 U.S. gateways for only $549 to $699.

On these voyages, the five-star Deutschland sails two oceans – South Atlantic and Indian – and to where they meet at the tip of the continent. The air/cruise combination package, starting at $5,175 from 16 East Coast cities, includes round-trip flights to and from Africa. Air/cruise package rates from West Coast cities start at $5,325. The cruise reductions and low air fares save travelers $1,000 and more on these cruises. In addition to the 10 percent reduction in cabin prices and low air fares, the cruise line is providing free transfers to and from the ship when air is purchased through Deilmann and a 50% reduction on pre-arranged packages of shore excursions. Port charges on this cruise are $150 per person.

  • The first cruise, departing Jan. 4, 2006, on the “Grand Hotel” Deutschland sails from Port Louis on the former British island of Mauritius to Le Port on the French island of Reunion and to Fort Dauphin on Madagascar – fabled islands known for their breathtaking scenery and palm-lined beaches. Then it’s on to four South African cities including modern Durban, the country’s third largest city and tourist center with a subtropical climate and long stretches of beaches. At Port Elizabeth, another popular vacation destination with beautiful beaches, excursion options include the Addo National Park of elephants and antelopes. The 15-night cruise ends with two nights in Capetown.

  • The second cruise, also 15 nights departing Jan. 17, sails roundtrip from Cape Town first to Walvis Bay, Namibia, where optional excursions include a half-day boat trip to view seals and dolphins, a small plane flight for aerial views of the Spitzkoppe – Namibia’s “Matterhorn”, the lunar-like desert landscape and Khan River Canyon and an overnight safari sojourn in Ethosha National Park. South Africa port calls include East London, Durban and Port Elizabeth. From Capetown, there is a optional full-day excursion to the Cape of Good Hope that includes a drive along the breathtaking coast road along the Chapman Peak mountain range, views from the lighthouses at the Cape and a winery visit on the return trip. Passengers can opt instead for a scenic helicopter flight of the Cape.

  • The third cruise of 16 nights, departing Jan. 30, is from Cape Town to Mombasa, Kenya, with port calls in Port Elizabeth, Durban and Richard’s Bay, South Africa; Nosy Be, Madagascar; Dzaoudzi on the little known French island of Mayotte and the idyllic island of Zanzibar, described as the best-kept secret in the Indian Ocean with its historical Stone Town and brilliant white sand beaches. Zanzibar has lured traders, adventurers and explorers for centuries – the earliest were Arab traders said to have arrived in the 8th century. Some stayed to settle and rule. Widespread intermarriage gave rise to a distinctive coastal community and a language derived in part from Arabic known as Swahili, which comes from the Arab word for coast.

The 286-cabin MS Deutschland, a truly classic ocean liner launched in 1998 and refurbished annually, is a richly decorated vessel in art nouveau and art deco styles recalling the early days of grand ocean travel. Staterooms are beautifully appointed with ample wardrobe space and well-designed bathrooms. The very high-level of service adds to passengers’ comfort with one crew member for every two passengers.

Gourmet dining has always been the hallmark of a grand journey at sea and is so aboard the Deutschland. The 513-passenger ship offers a choice of three venues for dining – the stately Berlin Restaurant, the casual, sunny Lido Restaurant and the elegant, intimate Four Seasons Restaurant for a la carte dining – as well as an outdoor dining terrace for luncheon served at umbrella-shaded tables, comfortable salons such as the Lili Marleen with a musical trio for nightly dancing, the Lido Terrace lounge and bar for morning coffee, afternoon tea and cocktails and the cozy Old Fritz pub animated with familiar piano melodies.

Outdoor and indoor swimming pools, three sun decks, open-air promenade deck, a fitness center, sauna, Turkish bath, shopping boutique, beauty salon with massage therapy and an infirmary are among other features of the nine-deck ship. Entertainment venues include a plush, comfortable theater for film screenings and lectures and the elegant, chandeliered two-level ballroom for dancing and revue shows. Princess Fleet Modernization Continues as Regal Princess Transferred to Growing Ocean Village U.K. Brand

SANTA CLARITA, CA, April 7 -- Continuing its fleet modernization program, Princess Cruises has announced that Regal Princess will be transferred to the growing U.K. cruise company Ocean Village. The 1,590-passenger ship will debut in the company's fleet in October 2006. Ocean Village was launched in 2003, and since has become regarded as "Best in Class" in the fast-growing mainstream British market, attracting first-time cruisers looking for a more informal and active holiday experience. This will be the second ship for the line, which has taken over 150,000 bookings in its first two years or operation, nearly 60 percent of them from first time cruisers.

Regal Princess entered service for Princess in 1991, and was recognized for its distinctive profile designed by world-renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano, its balcony cabins, spacious accommodations and myriad of dining and entertainment venues.

"Transferring Regal Princess to our sister company Ocean Village is a natural evolution of the Princess fleet, which for the past decade has grown progressively younger as new ships have been introduced and older tonnage has been transferred to other sister companies in key growth markets," said Peter Ratcliffe, CEO of P&O Princess Cruises International, who oversees both the Princess and Ocean Village brands, along with Cunard Line, P&O Cruises U.K., Swan Hellenic and P&O Cruises in Australia.

"This modernization program gives Princess the youngest fleet in the industry with an average ship age of 5.7 years, and also gives us a competitive edge with the highest percentage (56 percent) of highly desirable balcony cabins, our flexible 'Anytime Dining' program and array of entertainment venues," said Ratcliffe. Princess currently has two new ships under construction. Crown Princess will debut in early summer 2006, while a second sister ship is scheduled to launch in spring 2007.

Ocean Village, which offers fly-cruise packages to the Mediterranean and Caribbean, is known as "the cruise for people who don't do cruises" and has been lauded for attracting families, first-time and younger cruisers, as well as for its relaxed, informal environment and great value. "Adding another ship to Ocean Village, effectively doubling its capacity, will extend the reach of this popular holiday brand, which offers the newest, largest and best-equipped ships in its class," said Ratcliffe. Additional information is available through a professional travel agent, by calling 1-800-PRINCESS, or by visiting the company's website at www.princess.com.

“Not only does Carnival Liberty’s Mediterranean program feature some of Europe’s most charming and historic cities, it also provides golfers with unparalleled golfing opportunities at many of the region’s most beautiful and challenging courses,” said Bob Dickinson, Carnival president and CEO.

In addition to golfing opportunities at a number of memorable courses throughout Europe, Carnival Liberty’s golf program includes a certified shipboard golf professional who, in addition to escorting golfers during golf excursions, conducts private and group lessons, specialty golf clinics, and complimentary putting contests aboard ship. Carnival Liberty’s golf program also includes Nike Golf products such as soft spiked golf shoes, balls, caps, gloves and apparel, all of which can be charged to guests’ shipboard Sail & Sign accounts. Nike clubs are available for rent, as well. The program also includes early debarkation from the vessel for golf outings, transfers to and from the course, and priority tee times.

Featured golf courses on Carnival Liberty’s Mediterranean cruises include:

  • Volturno Golf Club (Naples) – Patterned after classic Scottish links-style courses, this par-70 course offers a varied landscape of large dunes and strategically placed bunkers and water hazards, all complemented by gorgeous surroundings including magnificent sea vistas.

  • Golf Club Villa Condulmer (Venice) – Measuring a relatively short 6,408 yards, this spectacular course plays longer than its length, with tight fairways and small greens. All this, combined with lush landscaping, including manicured hedges and native trees, and rose bushes amid 16th century statues, makes for an unforgettable round.

  • Il Picciolo Golf Club (Messina) – This spectacular par-70 course is built around the world famous Volcano Etna, which dominates every hole. The course is designed by legendary Italian course architect Luigi Rota Caremoli, whose dramatic touches are evident throughout this magnificent 5,675-yard track.

  • Masia Bach Golf Club (Barcelona) – Designed by Spanish golfer Jose Maria Olazabal, Masia Bach is a favorite for its challenging layout which certainly tests golfers’ abilities. Fast, rolling greens, and tight, long fairways across nearly 7,000 well-manicured yards makes this par-72 beauty a must-play.

  • Royal Mougins Golf Club (Cannes) – This Robert Van Hagge-designed course is challenging to golfers of all proficiency levels, with many water hazards and bunkers. Club selection is a key to success on this par-71, 6,671-yard course, which consistently ranks as one of Europe’s best.

  • Cosmopolitan Country Club (Livorno) – With water coming into play on 11 of 18 holes, Cosmopolitan is a seaside links-style course that combines a tactical layout with native landscaping and large mounds that make for exciting play. The course’s many highlights include #16 – a 325-yard-long par 4 located on an “island in the sand.”

Courses featured within the Carnival Liberty’s program are among the nearly 50 different golf options available within the line’s fleetwide program. Managed by Sunrise, Fla.-based Elite Golf Cruises, the program is available on every Carnival’s “Fun Ship” and includes courses throughout the Caribbean, Bahamas, Hawaii, Mexico, Canada, and New England.

Shipboard lessons are conducted within a netted and lighted “practice range” which protects golfers from the elements and allows for both day and evening instruction. State-of-the-art “V1” teaching computers providing split-screen, side-by-side comparisons to some of golf’s best players are available to help golfers improve their swing and ultimately lower their handicap. A home version of the “V1” software can also be purchased for use on golfers’ home computers.

Oceania Cruises Rides a Wave of Success in 2005

Miami, FL – Oceania Cruises is pleased to announce that year-over-year business has increased an average of 64%. The volume of new reservations taken during the week of March 28 through April 2, 2005 set an all-time high for the line and provided a spectacular conclusion to a record setting first quarter. Booking levels have exceeded management’s expectations as the 2005 European season is on target for 100% occupancy and resulted in the 2006 European sailings being released two months ahead of schedule. The recent introduction of the line’s third ship, Nautica, has generated a tremendous amount of interest and the line reports that 80% of the available inventory for her inaugural season of voyages to Asia has been sold.

“There’s an increased demand and renewed confidence among consumers for travel to foreign locales. Explore Polar Opposites Aboard Ship: Cruise Vessels Take Travelers to the Ends of the Earth

NEW YORK -- Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) ships transport travelers across the seven seas to every continent - including the North and South poles. While not ideal destinations for sunbathing on deck, the Arctic region, north of the Arctic Circle, and the Antarctic Peninsula, due south, are perfect for adventurous souls who yearn to see and experience the beauty and spectacle of the world's most remote and unspoiled destinations.

Most cruise ships cross the Arctic Circle during the summer months, sailing from Scandinavian and Northern European ports to the region's vast forests, dramatic fjords, and crashing waterfalls, bathed in the eerie light of the Midnight Sun. Just up the coast is the North Cape, Europe's northernmost point, with breathtaking views towards the Barents Sea and the polar north.

Antarctic cruises are offered from December through March. Sailing from South America's southernmost ports, these cruises showcase the Antarctic Peninsula's awe-inspiring icescapes and abundant wildlife. Depending on the cruise line, passengers can make landings via inflatable expedition boats, purchase optional flight-seeing tours and enjoy scenic cruising.

"One of the many attributes of a cruise vacation is the chance to visit destinations that are inaccessible by any other means of transportation. Itineraries that visit Antarctica and cross the Arctic Circle enable guests to see parts of the world to which few have ever ventured," said Terry L. Dale, president and CEO of CLIA - the cruise industry's chief marketing organization and North America's largest travel industry association based on agency membership.

The following is a listing of Antarctica and the Arctic itineraries offered by CLIA-member cruise lines in 2005 and 2006:

  • CUNARD LINE
Queen Elizabeth 2 passengers cross the Arctic Circle when she sails from Reykjavic to Akureyri on her 14-night "Northern Lights" cruise to Norway and Iceland, departing July 30, 2005, from Southampton. Meanwhile, her big sister - Queen Mary 2 - will be the largest liner in the world to cruise around South America when she visits on two 12-day "Cape Horn & Chilean Fjords" voyages - departing January 27 and March 22, 2006. Passengers can appreciate Antarctica's scenic wonders on optional flightseeing excursions.

  • CRYSTAL CRUISES
Crystal Symphony sails from Copenhagen on a 12-day "North Cape & Norwegian Fjords" cruise that crosses the Arctic Circle in late June to call at Honningsvåg, the gateway to the North Cape plateau, Europe's northernmost promontory. Five 11-day summer Baltic itineraries offer the option of private jet excursions into Finland's legendary Lapland to tread upon the Arctic Circle. In 2006, Crystal Serenity will mark some of summer's longest days with a new Arctic cruise that travels as far north as Spitsbergen.

  • HOLLAND AMERICA LINE
In 2005 and 2006, the line's Rotterdam and Prinsendam offer passengers the opportunity to view Antarctica's magnificent icescapes via scenic cruising of Elephant, Deception and Anvers (Palmer Station) islands, Hope Bay (Esperanza Station) and Lemaire and Neumayer channels. However, there will be no landings on the Antarctic Peninsula. Meanwhile, both ships also cross the Arctic Circle, Rotterdam on her 12-day cruise June 20, 2005 and Prinsendam on a 21-day voyage May 21, 2006. Voyages feature renowned geologists, naturalists and biologists.

  • NORWEGIAN COASTAL VOYAGE
Norwegian Coast Voyage offers both Arctic and Antarctic voyages. From June through August 2005, passengers cruise under the Midnight Sun exploring Spitsbergen's Arctic landscapes and abundant wildlife on eight-day cruises aboard MS Nordstjernen or 11 days on MS Polar Star. All the company's Arctic programs feature naturalist guides and Zodiac landings. From November 2005 through March 2006, MS Nordnorge and MS Nordkapp showcase the magnificent glaciers, icescapes and abundant wildlife of Antarctica on expeditions, with lecturers and PolarCirkel boat landings.

  • ORIENT LINES
Marco Polo crosses the Arctic Circle and winds its way to the North Cape on 17-day "North Cape & Fjords" CruiseTours, departing July 12 and August 14. For the 2005/2006 Austral summer Orient Lines' flagship will return to Antarctica for her 11th consecutive season with six voyages. Marco Polo uniquely combines the comforts and amenities of a midsize liner with an ice-strengthen hull, an outstanding team of naturalist guides and shore landings on the Antarctic Peninsula via Zodiac expedition boats.

  • PRINCESS CRUISES
Sea Princess offers scenic cruising of Magdalena Fjord and Spitsbergen on a 14-day North Cape voyage, departing June 18, 2005. In the Southern Hemisphere, a 21-day itinerary from Rio to Santiago, Chile, aboard Regal Princess, departing Jan. 8, 2006, combines South American cities with seaside resorts, the Falkland Islands and Chilean fjords. However, the highlight of the itinerary is four days of scenic cruising around Antarctic landmarks, including Esperanza Station, Antarctic Sound, Gerlache Strait, and Elephant, Sigma and Deception islands.

  • RADISSON SEVEN SEAS CRUISES
The 490-guest, all-suite Seven Seas Navigator will sail the Arctic Circle in June and July with a series of four "Top of the World" voyages. In January 2006, the Explorer II will offer two 11-night expeditions to Antarctica, roundtrip from Ushuaia. Highlights of the voyages include glacier landings via inflatable Zodiac boats, lead by a distinguished expedition team. The world's top-rated expedition ship features an ice-strengthened hull and a casually intimate ambiance with its number of guests limited to 198.

  • SILVERSEA CRUISES
In December 2005, passengers aboard Silver Cloud will have the opportunity to experience the majesty of Antarctica on two 16-day voyages between Buenos Aires and Valparaiso, Chile. An optional overland excursion from the port of Punta Arenas, Chile, will transport travelers by air to the Presidente Eduardo Frei Montalva Station - a Chilean meteorological center - where they will trek to a lookout for a chance to get up-close and personal with three species of penguins, plus elephant, Weddell and Antarctic fur seals.
