Queen Mary 2 Sea Trials
Queen Mary 2 passed her sea trials with flying colours. The vessel set out on Thursday evening, September 25 for three days of rigorous testing of her power, manoeuvrability and vibration levels off the coast of Brittany, France.
The successful trials put QM2 right on schedule for her January 12 maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to Fort Lauderdale.

According to Stephen Payne, the ships naval architect, who was an observer on board during sea trials: For a first builders sea trial, the performance of Queen Mary 2, being a prototype ship, exceeded expectations in all respects.
Captain Ronald Warwick, QM2s master-designate, who was also an observer on board, added: It was great to finally take her out to the open ocean, where she belongs.
